Four killed in Chile plane crash

SANTIAGO: All four people aboard a small plane have been killed in a crash at an airport in Chile.

Police say the aircraft plunged to the ground at Chacabuco airport, about 50 kilometres north of Santiago.

Regional chief General Richardo Soler told the daily La Tercera on Sunday officials will probe the cause of the crash.

The victims were two adult men, including the pilot; a younger man and a youth. All died instantly, Solar said.

The plane, belonging to the Universitario aviation club, left the airport late on Saturday, but began to smoke soon after and slammed into the ground and burst into flames, witnesses said. (AFP)
