DHAKA: Bangladesh made 204 runs for nine wickets against Sri Lanka in the last league match of the 12th Asia Cup here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
Bangladesh, who have been winless so far in the tournament, batted well in the beginning as their openers Anamul Haque and Shamsur Rehman provided a solid start of 74 in 18.2 overs.
Amanul top scored with a steady 49 from 86 balls with two fours and a six while Shamsur scored 39 off 57 balls with six boundaries.
However, other batsmen could not take any advantage of the start and were getting out with regular intervals.
Only Nasir Hossain (30), Mahmudullah (30) and Shakib Al Hasan (20) made some useful contributions.
Ashan Priyanjan, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal and Ajantha Mendis took two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka have been unbeaten in the tournament winning their all three matches played so far. Today, they need 205 runs to win their last league match of the Asia Cup 2014 to maintain their unbeaten record.
However, Sri Lanka have already qualified for the final, to be played against Pakistan on Saturday.
