SRINAGAR: In Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), authorities imposed a curfew in Srinagar, Bijbehara, Shopian, Kulgam and other areas to prevent people from staging taking out Ashura processions on Saturday.

A senior officer of Indian police said in Srinagar that Ashura processions would not be allowed.

The people of IoK faced a lot of complexities with almost a million armed Indian troops hammering all around.

The occupation authorities also continued to detain Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabbir Ahmed Shah in their houses and police stations.

The action is aimed at preventing the leaders from leading demonstrations and Ashura processions.
