PESHAWAR: Seven people including a woman and child were killed in a blast in the Sarband area of the city on Friday. The Sarband area neighbours Khyber Agency.

Police said the blast was a suicide bombing targeting an armoured vehicle stationed next to a petrol station in the area. SP City Faisal Kamran told reporters that policemen were injured in the attack.

Thirty others injured in the blast are being treated at local hospitals and include women and children.

According to the bomb disposal squad 8-10 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and an investigation has been launched.

Responsibility

The Ahrar-ul-Hind a splinter group that broke away from the TTP has claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile the TTP has disassociated itself from the attack in Quetta & Peshawar with its spokesman Shahidullah Shahid stating that the TTP is adhering to the ceasefire.
