Stage sit-in but don’t flout law, constitution: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday said the rallies of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) are expected to enter Islamabad by Friday morning but warned that no one will be allowed to violate the law and Constitution.

“Staging a sit-in against the government is allowed but no one will be permitted to stomp the law and constitution,” he said in a firm tone while addressing a press conference here.

He said security of Islamabad’s red zone has not just been doubled but strengthened three-folds.

The Interior Minister said PTI’s request for holding a procession in Islamabad has been received and a permission will be issued to them shortly.

Nisar said entire Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be opened except for a few routes once the rallies of PTI and PAT reach their procession venues.

He, however, said in unequivocal terms that law would firmly deal with anyone who tried to move beyond the specified limits in the capital territory. PTI has been allocated the space of its choice, he added.

“Islamabad is a capital of the country and no one can be allowed to cross its red lines,” he added.

He said the Lahore High Court (LHC) has clearly defined the parameters for holding the long marches and hoped that PTI and PAT will abide by the same.

Chaudhry Nisar said complying with the orders of LHC, the administration has lifted containers that were placed at various points.
