ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Thursday said that no political group or party would be allowed to gag media at gunpoint, Geo News reported.

Talking to mediamen after the Cabinet meeting here, she said the media was one of the most important institutions and the government could not even think to muzzle it.

Dr Firdous said that it was the present government, which after coming to power eradicated the black laws against the media.

The minister said, ”The government cannot be blamed for an isolated incident in Karachi.”

She assured mediamen that culprits would be brought to book, adding nobody will be allowed to dictate the media.
