ISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Petroleum, Dr Asim Hussain Tuesday warned the nation of tough winters ahead keeping in view the gap between availability and demand of the commodity in the peak season, Geo News reported.
Addressing a news conference here, Dr Asim said that an addition of gas in the system by the next year will raise the supply by one billion mf per day.
Moreover, he said an Italian company, ENI, has discovered gas reserves of 300-400 billion mf from which Pakistan will also be benefiting. This will help us add 30 million mf gas into our system, he added.
He said 60 new blocks will be tendered for oil and gas exploration under the new petroleum policy and, in this connection, road shows will be organized in London, Dubai, and Houston.
The Advisor said talks have entered advanced stage for acquiring established gas reserves in the in US. Expression of interest for exploration of oil and gas in Afghanistan has already been dispatched, he added.
