Lahore: Duo of dreaded dacoits lands in the lockup

LAHORE: Ichhra police on Friday nailed a couple of armed and dangerous robbers who have a long list of crimes ranging from dacoity, murder, and rape to their credit, Geo News reported.

The felons, according to police, go by the names of Tahir and Babar Pia, have been in and out of the jail several times for the offenses mentioned above.

Giving details Ichchara cops said these law-breakers were so wretched that would not shy of shooting anyone who came in their way.

“These crooks have also been reported to even go about raping women in the houses they were staging holdups”, said police.

Mostly they rob as a pack of seven, all hardened goons, the police said adding but not always.

This time the police spurred into action by a timely report and swooped upon them well while they were busy sweeping a house clean in Windsor Park area.

The heavily armed outlaws welcomed police with a salvo of gunshots drawing a befitting retaliatory fire from the lawmen, said an eyewitness.

Panic gripped the area during the shootout, which culminated in the surrender of the outlaws. After a short while the crime-mongers were in the lockup.

Moreover, a booty worth millions of rupees was also recovered from them.

It is pertinent to mention that the police did not rest on this laurel and is hectically conducting raids for other gang-members after squeezing some information out of the two held.

The higher authorities have announced reward for the valiant policemen who put their lives on the line in the line of duty.
