LAHORE: Renowned international wrestler Antonio Anoki who is now Muhammad Hussain after embracing Islam has arrived in Lahore along with other wrestlers, Geo News reported Saturday.
Muhammad Hussain and the other wrestlers from Japan will take part in the International Sports and Peace Wrestling Festival in Lahore to fight with the local wrestlers.
Talking to the media at Allama Iqbal International Airport upon his arrival today, Anoki said that he has come to spread the message of peace through sports. He told that he has embraced Islam in Iraq and now his Islamic name is Muhammad Hussain Anoki.
He expressed his pleasure over his visit to Lahore and remembered Akram and Jhara Pehalwan. He said that he wishes to promote wrestling in Asia and wants to train the Pakistani youngsters in the sport.
The Sports Board Punjab is holding the festival to mark the 60 years of sporting relations between Pakistan and Japan where the wrestlers of the two countries will face each other in free wrestling matches on December 2 at National Hockey Stadium, Lahore. .
