ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission, formed by the Supreme Court to investigate Lal Masjid operation, has formally begun its work, Geo News reported.
According to sources, anyone who wants to provide evidence or record statement can get registration with the commission. On the first day, no one has got registration yet.
Supreme Court (SC) had constituted a judicial commission to probe into the Lal Masjid operation on December 04.
One-member commission of senior judge of Federal Shariat Court, Justice Shehzad Al-Shaikh will present its findings in 45 days.
Inspection team member of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Syed Muzafar Ali Shah has been nominated Secretary while Additional District and Session Judge Kamran Basharat as Additional Secretary of the commission.
The commission has been tasked with ascertaining the reasons which led to the operation along with the number of deaths which took place during the operation. It will also ascertain whether the dead bodies were handed over and compensation paid to the heirs.
