PESHAWAR: After suspending the mobile phone services in Karachi, the federal interior ministry has asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to freeze the services in Peshawar, Geo News reported Friday.

According to sources, the interior ministry has informed the KP government about the suspected terrorism where mobile phone can be used to detonate remote controlled bombs.

The mobile phone services were suspended from 11 am to 6pm in Karachi today due to the same reason and now the KP government is also mulling over the option to freeze cellular services in the city. The interior ministry is still waiting for the approval by the provincial government, sources said.

On the other hand, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Crises Management Cell KP Adil Saeed Safi told Geo News that they have not yet received any formal orders from the federal government to block the cellular services in Peshawar. He further said that there are no such circumstances where mobile services should be suspended in the province, however, if the government asked, they will block the cellular services.
