KARACHI: The Chup Tazia or Silent Tazia procession is on its way that was initiated from Nishtar Park Monday morning and will conclude at the Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar after following its traditional route, Geo News reported.

After the Fajr prayer, the procession was initiated from Nishtar Park in Soldier Bazar and will culminate at Imambargah Hussainia Irania in Kharadar after the Zohrain prayers.

Severe traffic jams were also reported around MA Jinnad Road, Regal Intersection and Saddar areas.

A second procession will be taken out from Qasr-e-Musayyab in Rizvia Society and will culminate at Masjid-o-Imambargah Shah-e-Najaf on Martin Road.

The DIG had instructed that vehicle owners wishing to participate in the procession should obtain traffic entry stickers to display them on the windscreens of their vehicles.

Entry stickers for government and media vehicles, and ambulances were issued on January 19 and 20 at the DIG office in the traffic security branch of the police headquarters on Aga Khan III Road in Garden.

Owners or managers of scouts and welfare organisations, and of vehicles distributing Sabils, Nazar and Niaz were instructed to submit application forms with attested copies of the vehicles’ registration books, owners’ computerised national identity cards and driving licences, as well as two attested photographs of drivers and an official letter from the organisation at Qasr-e-Musayyab by January 18.

Chup Tazia is the religious procession held on 8th of Rabi' ul-Awwal to commemorate the death of Hazrat Imam Hasan al-Askari (RA).

The procession is usually regarded as the last procession of the mourning period that begins in the Islamic month of Muharramul Haram.
