Taufiq Umer doubtful for first test

JOHANNESBURG: Pakistan opening batsmen facing a race against time to be fit for the first test starting from February 1.

31 year old Taufiq Umer injured himself during a practice session and could not participate in the on going tour match.

Doctors have ruled out a fracture after initial tests although they have recommended 3-4 days of complete rest for the stylish left hander to recover fully.

The injury makes the opener from Lahore a doubtful starter for the first test starting from February 1 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
