KARACHI: Adviser to Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Akbar Velayeti has said that strategic cooperation between two brotherly Islamic countries of Pakistan and Iran is not only for mutual benefit but is also in the regional and international interest.
Talking to mediapersons after offering Fateha at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Saturday morning he said that bilateral relations between both countries were going well and being further strengthened specifically after the signing of gas pipeline agreement.
He said provision of source of energy for Pakistan by brotherly country of Iran was a very important step.
"We know that there are some pressure from outside especially by the United States but both countries are determined to continue strategic cooperation and also in future we wil cooperate in the power sector as now only a limited electricity is being transferred to Pakistan", said he.
Velayeti said "There are also some other fields we can cooperate in, not only bilaterally but also at the regional and international level on different issues which Islamic Ummah is facing because both Iran and Pakistan being two important Muslim countries can play very important and strategic role for the strengthening of the relations among the Muslim countries".
