Protesting young doctors released in Lahore

LAHORE: Doctors who were taken into police custody earlier on Sunday have been released.

The young doctors had been taken into custody after a police crackdown on their protest near the inauguration ceremony of the metro bus service. The doctors were taken into custody outside the Services Hospital.

The young doctors who had been protesting peacefully for one week decided to take their protest to the inauguration ceremony. Police negotiations with the young doctors were unsuccessful and a crackdown was initiated. The doctors retaliated to being baton charged by pelting the police with stones which led the police to arrest some of the doctors.
