ISLAMABAD: With only days left before the assemblies are dissolved, the government has increased the price of petroleum products.
The new prices became effective at midnight today (Friday) following the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority notification regarding the upward revision.
According to the notification, petrol is now retailing at 106.60/litre after an increase of Rs. 3.53 while Diesel after a Rs. 4.35/litre increase is retailing at Rs. 113.56
Protest against price hike
The MQM boycotted proceedings at the National Assembly today, over the price hike. MQM members said, that the parliamentary committee on the matter was not consulted before the upward revision of POL prices.
Meanwhile, PML-N members also boycotted proceedings at the National Assembly terming the price hike a ‘petrol bomb’ that has been dropped on the consumers.
