LAHORE: The Punjab Parliamentary Committee (PPC) deadlock over the selection of a caretaker chief minister continued, as their second day deliberations ended inconclusively.
Following the meeting of the PPC, one of the representatives of the opposition Chaudhry Zaheedin said that no consensus could be arrived at despite their best efforts. Another opposition leader Shaukat Basra said that the deadlock over the Punjab caretaker CM continues as no decision could be taken.
Meanwhile, the Punjab govt. representative Rana Sanaulluh blamed the members of the opposition for raising baseless allegations against the government nominees, while they tried to reach a decision by avoiding to respond them in same manner.
Rana Sanaullah, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Malik Iqbal Channar representing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, while the opposition side is represented by Shaukat Basra, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and Zulfiqar Gondal.
The committee deliberated over four nominees for the post of the interim chief minister two each by the government and the opposition.
The PML-N proposed names of Justice (retd) Amir Raza Khan and former bureaucrat Khuwaja Zaheer while the opposition suggested names of Najam Sethi, senior journalist and political commentator, and Justice (retd) Zahid Hussain.
