ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan received 9,493 nomination papers across the country as it concluded first phase of the election due on May 11 that would mark historic democratic transition of power in country.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the Federal Board of Revenue, the National Accountability Bureau and the State Bank of Pakistan have so far carried out scrutiny of 9,086, 5981,5355 and 5356 nomination papers respectively , according to reports.

The Election Commission received 1166 nomination papers for the National Assembly seats while 3146 candidates submitted their nomination papers for the Punjab Assembly seats.

Similarly, 178 candidates submitted nomination forms for the National Assembly Seats and 385 were aspiring to run for the Balochistan Assembly seats. In, Sindh 429 and 634 nomination papers while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1084 and 787 were received for the National and provincial assembly seats respectively.
