KARACHI: Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) Saturday complained of short supply of gas for its planned eight hours of load-shedding effective from today in the industrial areas here, while SSGC promptly refuted any cut in supply to KESC, Geo News reported.

KESC spokesman said that SSGC has slashed supply of gas to 120 MMCFD (million million cubic feet per day), which has compelled them resorting to eight hours of load-shedding in the industrial areas effective Saturday. He claimed that KESC during the last one year made payment of Rs35 billion as against purchase of gas worth Rs34 billion.
He further said that KESC had sent several times the draft agreement for payment of outstanding amount in two years, which was rejected by the SSGC Board.

Contrary to this, SSGC spokesman said that gas supply to KESC has not been slashed, as 120 MMCFD of gas being supplied to KESC for the last four months consistently.
SSGC spokesman demanded from KESC to make payment of the total outstanding amount of Rs46 billion immediately.
