ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that it is a responsibility of the parliament and the administration to take steps in support of the Supreme Court.

Addressing a gathering at National Public School here on Monday, the chief justice said that it is a constitutional duty of the Supreme Court to serve as a custodian of the constitution.

He said that the Supreme Court simultaneously played its part in dispensing justice and ensuring supremacy of law.

The chief justice urging the government officials to discharge their duties transparently said that they are not bound to implement orders which are against the law.
