ISLAMABAD: Attorney General of Pakistan, Munir A Malik informed the Supreme Court of Pakistan about the government’s stance on the high treason case against former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

Sources said that the AG told an SC bench, hearing identical petitions seeking high treason trial against Pervez Musharraf, that the violator of article six would be brought to justice and parliament had also adopted a resolution in this regard.

Malik said that government believed in the high standards of supremacy of law. The AG said that he could assure the court that political space would be provided for consultation and action would be taken as per law.

The hearing was adjourned till June 27 after the bench directed the AG to submit a written reply within three days as to what measures would be taken to initiate proceedings
