LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervez Rasheed told on Saturday that there will be no loadshedding during Sehar, Iftar and Taraweeh timings throughout the holy month of Ramazan, Geo News reported.

While addressing a press conference here today, Pervez Rasheed told the reporters that Rs503 billion were spent to curtail loadshedding.

According to the statistics provided by the Information Minister, currently the country requires 17,000 MW while the production stands at 13,000 MW.

Pervez Rasheed also expressed the hope that the production will be increased by 1,700 MW soon.

It can be mentioned here that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had earlier directed the Ministry of Water and Power to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Sehar‚ Iftar and Taraweeh timings, and to reduce loadshedding during Ramazan.

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has announced to increase power tariff in the month of July saying that surge in circular debt can be stopped if the electricity price is raised forthwith.

The minister said the power tariff will be increased for commercial consumers this month while the price for domestic consumers will be raised within the next two to three months.
