PESHWAR: Five persons were killed, several houses were washed away and villages inundated as rain and floods devastated parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the provincial capital.In Peshawar, rainwater inundated Hayatabad, Nasir Bagh, Warsak Road, Hassan Garhi, Budhni and Pir Bala.
According to the deputy commissioner, the water flow in Budhni Nullah reached 30,000 cusecs feet and floodwater from the adjacent Khyber Agency also entered Peshawar, inundating Hayatabad, Nasir Bagh, Warsak Road and other low-lying areas.
Water entered the houses, shops, markets and warehouses, which damaged properties and caused heavy losses.
Rescue sources said that 150 people marooned by the floods were shifted to safer places while the Pakistan Army has also reached to carry out rescue work.
