AWARAN: Unknown gunmen on Friday opened fire on the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel when they were busy in relief efforts in the quake-hit Awaran District of Balochistan, Geo News reported.
According to the FC spokesman, the team was carrying out rescue and relief efforts when unidentified armed attackers opened fire on them in Bazdad area of Awaran. However, the FC personnel responded promptly and forced the culprits to flee by retaliating the ambush. Fortunately, no casualty was reported in the incident.
It may also be mentioned here that a helicopter carrying relief goods to earthquake stricken Awaran was attacked in Mashkay Tehsil earlier today.
Security sources told that less intense arms were used to attack the helicopter that remained safe and no damage was reported.
It was the second attack on an army helicopter and FC personnel in the area. On Thursday, two rockets were fired at a helicopter carrying the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chief, Major General Mohammad Saeed Aleem while FC personnel also came under attack the same day.
