ISLAMABAD: Authorities concerned have decided to further enhance security for former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf as he could not appear before the Special Court after a kilogram of explosive material was recovered and defused near his Chak Shahzad farmhouse residence on Wednesday, Geo News reported.

Around 1600 police and Rangers personnel would provide security to former president from his farmhouse resident to Special Court today (Thursday).

On Wednesday, Inspector General Police Islamabad Sikandar Hayat also appeared before the court and submitted that they have made strict security measures by deploying over 1,000 security personnel including 760 cops and 278 Rangers besides deputing bomb disposal squad. The IGP further said that the journey from the residence of Pervez Musharraf to the court premises is quit safe.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered for investigation about the recovery of explosive material near the residence of Musharraf.

He directed the authorities concerned to take all possible measures for the appearance of Musharraf in special court.

Nawaz Sharif said such kind of incidents were unacceptable during strict security. He also sought report from interior ministry.
