KARACHI: Unknown gunmen opened fire in Balidia Town area of the city, killing two policemen, Geo News reported on Sunday.

Police said that two policemen Abul Rahim and Muhammad Khan were deputed for security of Razaq Boneri, a local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP).

The police said that the assailants hurled a hand grenade at a shop owned by Boneri and subsequently opened indiscriminate fire, injuring the two policemen in Madina Town area of Baldia Town.

The policemen succumbed to their injuries on way to the hospital. They said that the assailants also took away arms of the cops. The bodies were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities. On Saturday, three policemen were gunned down in different parts of the city.
