LAHORE: The Election Tribunal here on Wednesday declared the election held in Punjab Assembly constituency Narowal PP-136 void for proven irregularities.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Col. (retired) Shujaat Ahmad Khan was declared elected from Narowal PP-136, while the losing independent candidate for this seat Mohammad Wakil Khan alleging irregularities committed in the election had filed a petition in the Lahore Election Tribunal.

Following investigations, the ballots and their counterfoils of this constituency was found missing and, therefore, the Lahore Election Tribunal declared the election null and void.

The Election Tribunal also directed Election Commission of Pakistan to announce the date for the holding of re-election in Narowal PP-136.
