KARACHI: At least 10 people were killed in the fresh wave of violence in the city on Wednesday.

According to reports, unknown gunmen opened fire on a hotel in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, killing three students of a local seminary and injuring two others.

Two of the deceased were identified as Hayatullah and Ali Ahmed. Tension gripped the Gulistan-e-Jauhar and adjacent areas as armed men fired aerial shots and burnt tyres against the incident.

Ahle-Sunnat Wal Jamaat claimed that the dead and injured were their sympathizers. Earlier, unknown gunmen opened fire on a car near a private hospital, killing one and injuring another. The deceased was identified as Hyder Raza.

A man identified as Umar Farooqui was shot dead in Shah Faisal Colony area of the city.
