ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani prevented Pakistan Railways from raising the fares, Geo News reported Monday.
A meeting presided over by Federal Minster for Pakistan Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, was slated to make new decisions regarding closure of trains and fares hike.
According to sources, a letter was received from PM Secretariat that stopped the department from hiking fares.
According to Railways officials, the Prime Minister called a meeting of federal ministers including Railways minister and high-level officers of the department on September 27 in connection with these issues.
