KARACHI: At least 27 people have died while condition of 26 others is critical after consuming toxic liquor in Karachi, Geo News reported.
Dr Semin Jamali, in charge emergency department of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center JPMC, has confirmed the deaths.
The victims were mainly brought from the slum areas of Landhi and Korangi last night.
According to police, liquor was purchased from dens in Sharafi Goth and Shah Latif.
Police have launched crackdown against homemade liquor dens and have arrested two accused from Sharafi Goth.
It may be noted that recently more than two dozen people died in Hyderabad and Tandojam due to the use of poisonous liquor.
