Democracy vs. Lies in Multan by-election: Rafique

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique has termed the by-election in NA-149 (Multan) as a contest between democracy and lies.

During a news conference, Rafique said Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Imran Khan were the liars. "On one hand you resign from the assemblies and on the other contest the election hiding behind an independent candidate.”

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is supporting independent candidate Amir Dogar while Javed Hashmi has the backing of the PML-N. Dr Javed Siddiqui is contesting from the PPP platform.

Voting is underway in NA-149 after the seat was vacated following the resignation of former PTI President Javed Hashmi. There are 18 candidates contesting the polls which will conclude at 5 PM.
