PESHAWAR: An election tribunal, formed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to probe irregularities during the 2013 intra-party polls, on Monday declared party’s General Secretary Jahangir Tareen, CM KP Pervez Khattak and leader Aleem Khan unfit to hold any national or party post.

A report issued by the tribunal today said that the party’s basic membership besides membership of national or provincial assemblies of the all three mentioned should be revoked.

Tareen and Nadir Akmal Laghari refused to abide by the tribunal’s verdict of holding intra-party re-polls and did not even responded to show-cause notices sent to them, said the report.

PTI leader Naeem ul Haque, on the other hand, said that the tribunal had been dissolved by party chairman Imran Khan two months ago and therefore its orders carry no legitimacy anymore.

Khan had dissolved the tribunal after it issued a detailed judgment on March 18, recommending fresh intra-party elections.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party’s (ANP) Senator Zahid Khan said that Imran Khan does not even trust his own party’s tribunal let alone the national institutions. Justice (retd) Wajihud Din’s tribunal has unmasked the PTI’s real face, he added.
