MQM condemns filing Imran Farooq murder case against Altaf
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui condemned the registration of a case against party Chief Altaf Hussain and others in Pakistan for the murder of Dr Imran Farooq who was killed in London in 2010.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said Altaf Hussain was never named in the ongoing investigation of Dr Imran Farooq's murder, however, nominating MQM chief in the case shows dishonesty of the government.

He said MQM condemns the FIR against Altaf Hussain in Pakistan.

The Government of Pakistan on Saturday registered a case in Pakistan of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq's 2010 murder which took place in London against MQM chief, Altaf Hussain and other leaders of the party.

Among those nominated in the case are MQM senior leader Mohammad Anwar, Iftikhar Hussain, who is said to be a close aide of the MQM chief, and suspects Muazzam Ali Khan, Kashif Khan Kamran, Mohsin Ali Syed and Khalid Shamim.

The case was filed by Federal Investigation Authority's (FIA) counter-terrorism wing in Islamabad under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
