BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan's captain Sarfraz Ahmad said on Friday that he is aiming to give the nation a befitting Eid gift by winning the ICC Champions Trophy next month.
Sarfraz told media in Birmingham that he is confident of a good show from the team, adding that players are eager to start the tournament on a positive note with a win against India.
"We have a good record in this tournament against India, everyone back home also wants us to beat India and I am looking forward to it," Sarfraz said
"But, India isn't our only opponent in the tournament, every game is equally important and we are looking forward to each match," he added.
The young wicket-keeper batsman said that team would play positive cricket in every match and that Pakistan has nothing to lose in the tournament.
"We are ranked 8th, so we have nothing to lose here, but I'm very hopeful and the team will give a good fight in every match," he said.
"The tournament is being played in Ramazan and it's a good opportunity for us to give the nation an Eid gift by winning the tournament," he said.
"We haven't won this tournament yet, this can be the first time," he added.
