BIRMINGHAM: Former test player and manager of Pakistan Cricket team Talat Ali is hopeful for a victorious start of Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy with a win against India.
Pakistan will take on India on Sunday in its first game of champions trophy, the high voltage match is considered as most awaited game of the tournament.
Talking exclusively to geo.tv, Talat Ali said that team’s moral is very high and players are coming to UK after a positive tour of West Indies were team won series in every format of the game.
“Team’s morale is very high, every player is eager to give his best against India and aiming to kick off the tournament with win against India. My observation is that players are very committed for the tournament,” Talat told Geo on sidelines of Pakistan Cricket team’s training session on Friday.
“We won in every format during West Indies tour which boosted players’ morale, boys are really looking forward to the big match,” he said.
Talat, who has represented Pakistan in 10 tests from 1972 to 1979, said that he has told players not to get involved in any war of words to create pre-match hype.
“My instruction to boys is very clear and that is to focus on cricket only don’t give any importance to any hearsay,” Talat said.
“Let your bat and ball do the talking,” he added, when asked what his advice is to the players ahead of the India game.
