BIRMINGHAM: Young pacer Rumman Raees has joined Pakistan cricket squad in the United Kingdom for the ICC Champions Trophy as replacement of injured Wahab Riaz, confirmed a team official on Thursday.
25-year-old Rumman was included in the squad as a replacement player after Wahab Riaz was ruled out of the remainder of Pakistan's matches in the tournament with a twisted ankle.
"Rumman joined the squad this morning and Wahab has been released," said team spokesman Raza Kitchlew.
Meanwhile, Pakistan team travelled from Birmingham to Cardiff on Thursday for the last group match against Sri Lanka.
"Team will not train on Thursday as it is travel day but will be back to work on Friday," Raza said.
"The morale is very high and the team is looking forward to the last match and move to the final four of the tournament," he added.
Pakistan was defeated by India in the first match by 124 runs on Sunday, but it made a strong comeback on Wednesday by beating South Africa by 19 runs (DLS method).
The boys in green will play the last match of the group on 12th June in Cardiff against Sri Lanka which will decide further progress of team Pakistan in the tournament.
