CARDIFF: Sri Lanka's thrilling seven-wicket win has left Group B of the ICC Champions Trophy wide open, with all four teams still alive and in contention for the semifinals.
The two remaining matches of Group B now hold the status of quarterfinals for the competing teams.
India will play South Africa and Pakistan will play Sri Lanka in their last group matches. The winners of these matches will be through to the semifinals from Group B.
In the case of both games being washed out, then India and South Africa will be eligible to play the semifinals on basis of higher run rate.
If the game between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is washed out then Sri Lanka will play the semifinal on basis of better NRR than Pakistan.
So, no more ifs and buts for Pakistan team. The Green Shirts must win the match against Sri Lanka on Monday to go through to the semis and stay alive in Champions Trophy.
