KARACHI: Felicitations have been pouring in from all corners after Pakistan defeated England by eight wickets at Cardiff on Wednesday, making it to the final of Champions Trophy 2017.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif felicitated the Pakistan cricket team and the nation over the historic win, as the Green Shirts made it to the Champions Trophy final for the first time ever.
"The entire team secured a remarkable victory over the English side, demonstrating exceptional commitment and passion for winning the crucial game," the premier said in a statement.
The entire side, led by captain Sarfraz Ahmed, deserves praise, he stated, expressing well wishes for the team in the final.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa congratulated the Pakistan team, wishing them good luck for Sunday's final.
Former Pakistan captain-turned-politician Imran Khan also felicitated the Sarfraz-XI for having been into the Champions Trophy final. He praised the team for playing exceptionally well against the English side.
"It was good to see the Pakistan team playing confidently," he said, adding that through hardwork and professional skills Pakistan can continue their winning spree.
President Mamnoon Hussain, speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani also felicitated the Pakistan team for winning the semi-final.
PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, AML chief Sheikh Rasheed, JI emir Sirajul Haq, Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah were also among the ones who congratulated the team for their remarkable victory.
