Over 300,000 million registered voters, including 150,000 women, in NA-123 Lahore-VII are eagerly waiting for February 8, so that they could exercise their right to franchise. The NA-123 was earlier NA-132 Lahore-X prior to the new delimitations notified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in accordance with the 2023 digital census data. All major political parties have fielded their candidates in this constituency, with PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif also contesting the election from here. As many as 15 candidates, including the PML-N president, PTI-backed independent candidate Afzaal Azeem Pahat, JI’s heavyweight Liaqat Baloch, PPPP’s Muhammad Ziaul Haq, TLP’s Amjad Naeem, JUI-F’s Haider Ali, PAT’s Latif Ahmed Hussain are vying for the NA seat. In 2018, PML-N candidate Shehbaz won election from the Lahore constituency by securing 95,834 votes. PTI’s Chaudhry Muhammad Mansha Sindhu stood second by getting 49,093 votes. Voter turnout was recorded at 60.45%.
