For incarcerated PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi winning the election from NA-214 Tharparker 1 is a must as it’s the only seat he has been allowed to contest the polls from. Qureshi is going against 10 other candidates — including Ameer Ali Shah Jallani from the PPP, Abdul Razzaque from the GDA, Abdul Aziz from the JUI-F and Gul Hassan of the TLP. The battle would be interesting to watch as Qureshi is in jail and is also contesting without his party’s iconic bat symbol. He would be hoping to snatch the seat from the PPP as this is the second time he is running for this seat. The constituency was labeled as NA 221 Tharparker 1 in the 2018 general elections and PPP’s Pir Noor Muhammad Shah Jelani had won the seat by a margin of less than 7,000 votes against Qureshi. Jelani had secured the seat with 79,098 votes, while Qureshi came in second with 72,127 votes.
