February 8 will mark a decisive day in Pakistan’s recent political situation with the country’s 10th general elections witnessing eligible voters exercising their constitutional right. In NA-248 Karachi Central II constituency, MQM-P bigwig Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will be competing for a ticket to the lower house along with at least 32 other candidates including 23 independents and remaining from political parties such as PPP, GDA, TLP, IPP, MQM, MML, PMA, PCP and JIP. This time around, the London-based leader Altaf Hussain has also fielded candidates from his party MQM who will be competing against Siddiqui for the coveted seat. In 2018, the candidates ran for an NA seat from the NA-254 Karachi Central-II constituency where PTI’s Muhammad Aslam Khan won the ballot with 75,702 votes.
