ISLAMABAD: Khursheed Shah, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, has stated that Election Commission of Pakistan is an autonomous constitutional institution and not the subordinate to the judiciary.
Khursheed Shah held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan and discussed holding of elections and role of the ECP.
The Opposition leader said, “I will recommend in the electoral reforms committee for making senior most judges of the high court as member of the ECP.”
Shah went on to say that he has advised the election commission to write a letter to the Supreme Court pertaining to ECP’s powers.
Commenting on Local Bodies election in Badin, where former Sindh home minister and PPP disgruntled leader Zulfiqar Mirza’s party won majority of seats, Shah said results of Badin district should be acceptable for all.
