RAWALPINDI: A sub-inspector from Sadiqabad Police Station was suspended over negligence after a 13-year-old boy was killed by his kidnappers here on Sunday.
The police officer was dismissed on failing to take immediate action when informed about the abduction of the grade-5 student from Dhok Kala Khan last night.
The kidnappers had demanded Rs8 million ransom. However, they killed the youngster and dumped his body in a graveyard after their demand was not met.
Father of the unfortunate kid said that police paid no heed when he tried to lodge a report of his son’s abduction last night.
Friends and family of the victim also staged a protest demonstration at Islamabad Highway along with the body, blocking the road for all traffic.
Protesters later dispersed after the CCPO Rawalpindi negotiated with them on the spot and announced suspension of sub-inspector Muhammad Zafar for neglecting his professional duties.
