DUBAI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari on Monday lauded the remarks of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in which the latter said he did not believe in extension.
In a statement issued here, Asif Zardari said the Army Chief’s statement would quell the speculations regarding the extension in his service.
General Raheel Sharif is scheduled to retire his service in November this year.
Earlier today, the COAS rebuffed speculations about extension in his service, saying he will retire on due date.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi also appreciated the Army Chief’s statement.
Qureshi said the Army Chief’s decision has added to his honour and dignity and ‘we pay tribute’ to the General.
Political analysts also admired General Raheel Sharif’s point of view against the extension in service.
They said the Army Chief has proved that he is a focused General and those who tried to make him controversial have failed. They said the COAS has made it clear that institutions are above individuals.
