DUBAI: Former president Asif Ali Zardari and his son Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have strongly condemned firing on protesting Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) workers in Karachi.
In a statement on Tuesday, Asif Ali Zardari demanded judicial investigation into the incident.
In a separate message, Bilawal condemned the use of brutal force against the protesting employees of PIA
He asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to desist from adopting dictatorial tactics to silence democratic rights of protest of the PIA employees.
The PPP Chairman expressed sympathies and solidarity with the employees of national flag carrier and assured them that the PPP stands against the privatization of national assets for peanuts and stands with the just cause of the labour class in the country.
At least one person was killed and four others injured when police and Rangers personnel used water cannon, tear gas and rubber bullets against PIA protesting workers as they began to move towards the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Tuesday.
