Seven TTP, LeJ militants killed in Sheikhupura shootout: police

SHEIKHUPURA: At least seven suspected terrorists were killed in an alleged police encounter at Sharaqpur road in Sheikhupura late Tuesday night, police said.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) sources said a gang of at least 12 terrorists were making their way to Sharqpur when exchange of fire took place between the militants and police personnel.

Seven terrorists were killed in the shootout while five managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness.

CTD sources said the terrorists were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).

Police said they also seized 2 kilograms explosives from the possession of the terrorists.
