Pakistan team likely to depart for India tomorrow

LAHORE: Pakistan team likely to depart for participation in World T20 in India tomorrow (Friday) according to Indian media report.

According to sources, due to political reasons the Indian government will not write to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Sources add that the government of West Bengal province will provide assurance of complete security provision to the Pakistani cricket team.

Various extremist groups in India have been threatening to disrupt the Pakistan-India World T20 fixture even after the venue was changed from Dharamshala to Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Meanwhile with the decision on the Pakistani cricket team’s departure still pending, PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan spoke with players on Thursday and told them to remain focused on the game.

Khan told players that the situation was quite similar in 1999 when the team went ahead and played and came back victorious.

Regardless of the conditions, players must remain focused on the game, added Shahryar.
