KARACHI/DELHI: Pakistan’s Women Cricket team has reached Delhi from Chennai to play their second match in the Women's World T20 against India.
Pakistan’s women team takes on the India women team on March 19 at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, the same day Pakistan’s men team encounters arch-rival India.
The Pakistan team lost the first game to West Indies by four runs after a good fight, but team captain Sana Mir is hopeful for a better show against India.
“I am looking forward for an improved result against India,” said Sana.
Pakistan team will have their training session in Delhi on Friday afternoon.
Injured opener Javeria ruled out of WT20
Meanwhile, Pakistan team opener Javeria Khan has been ruled out of the match against India and for remainder of the World Twenty20 tournament as well.
Team sources have confirmed that Javeria fractured her left thumb during the game against West Indies on Wednesday.
An official of Pakistan Women team confirmed that Javeria Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of ICC Women's World T20 and team management has requested for a replacement player. The replacement would be announced in due course and Javeria is likely to return home tomorrow, said the official.
Reuters adds: Javeria Khan has been released from hospital after being hit on the jaw by a bouncer in the game against West Indies in Chennai.
"She has been discharged with a fractured thumb but we are still waiting for the medical report," said team manager Ayesha Ashhar.
27-year-old Khan was struck on her thumb by a bumper from Shamilia Connell that then hit the grill of her helmet. Khan collapsed to the ground and was stretchered off the field before being taken to hospital.
