Sattar hits back at Kamal after his anti-Altaf tirade

KARACHI: Responding to Mustafa Kamal’s criticism of Muttahdia Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, party’s senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday called on the government to take notice of provocative speeches by the former city Nazim of Karachi.

Addressing a press conference, Sattar said Kamal and his group have resorted to foul language against Altaf Hussain after their claims of ‘taking more wickets’ bit the dust.

“Everybody does have the right to establish a political party. Anybody can part his ways with a party, and we welcome it. But use of inappropriate language is unconstitutional and against moral values,” he said calling on the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to intervene.

“If use of filthy and provocative language against Altaf Hussain is politics, then it should be a cause of concern for other political parties,” he said.

Farooq Sattar said ‘the new group backed by establishment’ has been hurling allegations against Altaf Hussain ever since its arrival on the scene out of a sudden but no MQM leader used inappropriate language in their press conferences against them in return.

The senior MQM leader went on to say that the new group was breaking record of misconduct despite being evidently involved in ‘china-cutting and misappropriation.’

“However, we don’t want to get entangled with the politics of allegations despite having documentary evidences of these claims,” he added.

Pak Sarzmeen Party (PSP) leader Mustafa Kamal had said earlier in the day that Altaf Hussain had only one option, “raise hands and seek forgiveness from Allah”.

He was speaking at a press conference in Mirpurkhas, a day after his convoy was attacked by rival party workers there.

Without naming Altaf Hussain he said, “Since the day we announced that we were coming to Mirpurkhas he has been instigating his young workers to do something. He has been telling them that he is their father and they are listening to all the criticism quietly,” he said.
