CHAMAN: An Afghan intelligence officer plotting terrorist attacks in different parts of Balochistan has been arrested during a search operation in Bogra area of Chaman, security forces said on Wednesday.
Frontier Corps (FC) conducted the search operation in a compound on the outskirts of the city where they recovered 21 kilograms of explosives and bomb-making instruments, their spokesman said.
Sources said the intelligence officer has been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
According to Anwarul Haq Kakar, spokesman for the Balochistan government, the arrested foreign intelligence officer is currently under investigation.
The spokesman said security forces are on high alert and are strictly monitoring Pakistan's borders with neighbouring Iran and Afghanistan.
Kakar said that the arrest of the Afghan intelligence officer is a link in the chain of events that started with the arrest of Kulbhushan Yadav, an officer of Indian spy agency RAW, from Balochistan last month.
During investigation and a later video confession, Yadav revealed that he was a serving officer of the Indian Navy and was operating in Balochistan to facilitate separatist movement at the behest of RAW.
Yadav revealed that RAW maintains presence of a network of operatives in Balochistan and Karachi as part of its plan to destabilize Pakistan.
